2s win in thrilling game.

With a much changed side from their last outing, Llanishen 2s welcomed near neighbours Cardiff Quins, games between the sides tend to be high scoring and this one was no exception. The home side opened the scoring when hooker Adam Champ, who was oustanding throughout, crossed following a line out drive, however poor tackling allowed the Quins to take the lead with two converted tries. Llanishen equalised almost straight away when Tom Barr, normally a second row but playing at blindside flanker, burst through to cross under the posts, and just before half time he crossed for his second. Prolific kicker Keiron Maguire converted all three to give a half time score of Llanishen 2s 21, Cardiff Quins 2s 14. The see-saw nature of the match continued in the second period with the Quins again getting two more converted tries to regain the lead. Llanishen dug deep and centre Jack Marshall broke from deep in his own half, when tackled short of the line he fed supporting number 8 Paul Dolan and a lovely reverse pass from him allowed scrum half Steve Evans to touch down between the posts, Maguire converted and shortly after restored the home side's lead with a penalty. This was extended when nice interplay between Marshall and Champ saw the hooker crash over in the corner for his second try. The Quins pressed hard and got back to within a point with another converted try, From the kick off Llanishen regained possession and pinned the visitors back in their own half, the pressure led to a penalty to the home side, with Maguire off injured, scrum half Evans stepped up and slotted the kick, shortly after the referee blew fo full time. Final score Llanishen 2s 39 Cardiff Quins 35, the home side getting maximum points and the visitors getting two well deserved bonus points.
