2s stay unbeaten - just.

Llanishen 2s made the short trip to Heath Park for a league game with old rivals St. Joes. The first half was a tight affair, the home side twice took the lead with penalties, Nathen Llewellyn getting two in reply to level the score at half time. The first try came when Barrie Phillips broke strongly from the back of a scrum and fed Llewellyn who evaded a couple of tackles to cross the line. They extended the lead when they were awarded a penalty on their own 22, St. Joes. were expecting a kick to touch but Rob Ford took a quick kick and fed Tom Vaughan, a stong run took him to the opposition 22, he passed to Jack Marshall who was tackled just short of the line but quick re-cycling allowed Ford to cross for a try he converted himself. By now the visitors had made several changes due to injuries, the most serious being a serious shoulder injury sustained by Llewellyn, so their back line contained four players who normally play back row and three backs playing out of position. The home side pulled back to within three points with a converted try. Things looked ominous for Llanishen in the final  minutes, especially when they were reduced to 14 men when Phillips received a yellow card. St Joes had a couple of penalties which if converted would have earned them a draw but opted to kick for touch instead, and although they went close determined defence kept them out. Final score St. Joes 2s 13 Llanishen 2s 16.
