After an impressive 64 - 17 win at Ynysybwl in a friendly, Llanishen Youth started their competitive fixtures at home to Old Penarthians. The sides play with different styles, with the visitors using their big pack to try and get over the gain line close to the breakdown and the home side spreading it wide at every opportunity, which paid off as they took a 10 - 0 lead into half time with tries from Mylo Gropetis and Josh Kemble.
With the slope in their favour in the second half they got four more, Kemble getting a second, Tom Scourfield getting on to go with his three conversions and Dylan Newland crossing for a brace. The first of these was a length of the field effort, skipper Zac Afzal breaking from his own 22 beating several defenders before passing to the supporting Newland.
Final score was 36 - 0 and the game was a great advert for Cardiff and District youth rugby and credit should go to both sides.
