Club Update 19/6/20

Hi All

Hope that you are all keeping safe and well?

I just wanted to update you all on current club status and our plans for re-opening once we are given the go ahead.

Current Status

Nothing has changed since the last update, but the committee are meeting (virtually) every couple of weeks to cover off any issues that require attention. We are chasing up any possible grants, etc. and are ensuring that we are in a strong position when we come out the other side of the virus.

Re-opening (In Limited or Full manner)

In the most recent calls, we have started turning our attention to the re-opening process, and how we can operate once we are given the go ahead. We anticipate that we will be able to open in a limited way in due course, and that the bar will be able to open should we be able to provide enough outdoor space to allow social distancing to occur. To this end we as a club are blessed with plenty of outdoor space. We are also fortunate that the clubhouse has 3 potential entrances / exits so the operation of a one-way system should be easy for us to operate. We will need to consider the drinks ordering and delivery process to members, but that should not be an insurmountable issue.

In order to be ready once given the go ahead, some great work has already been done by the Ivins family and a number of other club members and volunteers, keeping the grass and weeds in check. The activity will increase significantly once we have a date where we can re-open, no doubt in a limited way as described above. We will then be continuing the increased activity to get the club ready, including the below as a minimum:

·         Keeping grass areas trimmed

·         Keeping weeds to a minimum

·         Re-painting the exterior decking and wooden areas

·         Re-painting the exterior pebble-dash (front and rear)

·         Painting the bar in the main function room white

·         Refreshing other painted areas where needed

·         Repairing some issues in the new ladies’ toilets

·         Reviewing options for the gent’s toilets

·         Replacing all ceiling tiles with 25-year guaranteed metal roof tiles thanks the generous donation of Paul Dolan and his SAS International business colleagues

·         Creation of a petanque / boules court

·         Creation of a potential Tiki bar serving bottled beers

·         Extension of smoking covered areas to ensure no smoking take place at the front of the main entrance

·         Creation of a sun sail to provide more covered area for sun / rain

We will be looking for volunteers / donations in due course (bags of gravel, pebbles, decking stain, paint brushes, etc.), and will notify you all on this topic when able. As you can see, we have literally ‘not let the grass grow under our feet’, and we are all looking forward to being able to re-open and meet up once again.

Club and Player Memberships

The club have decided that all memberships will be suspended and that no new renewals will be required at this time. This will be reviewed in September. This action recognises the importance of our members, and we want to ensure that no payments are made prior to reopening when members can access the clubhouse and other club facilities.

With regard to players, we will be seeking to obtain completed application forms for all senior, youth and M & J players for next season, but will not be looking for a financial contribution at this stage. This will be reviewed once we all have a better idea of when playing can commence (Can’t be soon enough for us all I’m sure).

We will be issuing more information on this in due course.

Finally, we wish you all well, but if you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to contact us at any time.

Many Thanks

The Committee
