Derby win for 2s.

Local derbies in any sport can sometimes be tense affairs and the game between Llanishen 2s and Rhiwbina fell into that category. The opening score came when Mike Rose made one of his usual strong runs, he was tackled just short of the line but quick re-cycling allowed Nathen Llewellyn to cross for a try. Rhiwbina pulled back three points with a penalty but the home side extended their lead when Elian Owen intercepted a pass and sprinted over for a try which Llewellyn converted, at the end of the half Rhiwbina got a try from a rolling maul following a line out, which ex Llanishen player Simon Lloyd converted. Llanishen extended their lead early in the second half when after another strong run from Rose, Rhiwbina were penalised for killing the ball and Tom Ryall slotted the kick. Late on Liam Barnard got the third try, Rhiwbina then pressed hard for a score that would have given them a losing bonus point, but determined defence kept them out. Final score Llanishen 2s 20 Rhiwbina 3s 10. So the 2s extend their unbeaten run, the gloss was taken off the win though by injuries to props Ryan Davies and Sean Dunne.
