Close win for 2s.

With no scheduled league fixture Llanishen 2s welcomed Treharris 2s for a friendly fixture, with a much changed squad from the previous weeks game at Dinas Powys. The home side scored first when scrum half Tom Ryall chipped over the opposition defence, center James McCarthy chased it to crash over, Keiron Maguire converting, however within minutes they were behind on the score board with Treharris getting two tries, one of which was converted. The game then swung back in the home sides's favour when prop Ryan Davies got a try, MaGuire converting and then were awarded a penalty try, Treharris then got their third try, the conversion giving a half time score of Llanishen 2s 21 Treharris 2s 19. The first quarter of the second half belonged to the visitors, they regained the lead with a penalty then extended it with another converted try. With time running out it looked as though Llanishen were going to be beaten but then Barrie Phillips broke from the back of a scrum, kicker Maguire was off the pitch so Ryall took the conversion to cut the deficit to one point, then in the last minute Llanishen were awarded a penalty which Ryall slotted over, final score Llanishen 2s 31 Treharris 2s 29. Thw whole Llanishen squad contributed to the win and credit must be given to Treharris for their part in a very exciting game.
