Back to winning ways for 2s.

Llanishen 2s went away to Caerau Ely with a bare 15 players with some of them not playing their normal positions. The first half was very poor, heavy rain and a swirling wind making handling difficult leading to a high error count from both sides.

The only score of the first period came when the visitors kicked a penalty to the corner, Liam Bufton won the lineout, the forwards drove to the line allowing scrum half Jack Gregory to cross in the corner, the home side pressed strongly at the end of the half, but determined defence kept them out, half time Caerau Ely 2s 0 Llanishen 2s 5.

The rain eased and both sides started to put some handling moves together and Llanishen extended their lead when an excellent long pass from Lewis Marshall allowed wing Jack Marshall (no relation) to score under the posts, Lewis converted.

The next 20 minutes were mostly played in the middle third of the pitch, but late in the game Gregory broke up the middle for his second try.

Time was running out for Llanishen to get the fourth try they needed for a bonus point, however with a couple of minutes left they secured it when they elected for a scrum when awarded a penalty in the home 22.

The visitors had dominated the scrums throughout the game, and this one was no different, as the scrum was driven forward captain Paul Dolan picked up and fed Gregory who went over for his hat-trick.

In the final minute centre James Chapman picked up a loose kick and beat several defenders with excellent footwork to get the fifth try, Gregory converted to give a fnal score of Caerau Ely 2s 0 Llanishen 2s 29.
