Mini & Junior Committee for 2016/17 & Thanks to the Big Man!

Many thanks to all who attended the M&J AGM on Sunday 12th June at the Clubhouse.

In his last official meeting as Chair of the M&J section Paul Kinsey outlined what a fantastic season it had been for the Llanishen RFC Age group sides, noting that there were too many positives to comment on everything!

Paul did note that this special year was topped off with our Under 12’s becoming the first Llanishen side to win the Blues Cup, and the Under 15 achieving a total of 18 squad members playing representative rugby.

Special thanks was given to Gary Phillips and Ellis John for all of their hard work in the last few seasons. Thanks were also given to all the Age Group reps who made running the club a possibility and a pleasure.

New Awards would be presented at the Awards Day to recognise the work of volunteers such as Claire Thomas our fixture secretary, who does a fantastic job for us all, and thankfully is staying in post for next season!

New Officers:

The meeting saw the following voted in as officers for the M&J committee:

  • Chairperson: Gary Phillips

  • Treasurer: Ellis John

  • Vice Chair: Richard Harvey

Although stepping down as Chairperson, Paul Kinsey will move into the new role of Club Liaison Officer and will be working to develop links between all sections in the club and the wider community. Richard Harvey will be doubling up as the M&J PR Officer and working across the club to promote the good work and results that are increasingly happening at Llanishen RFC.

Role Vacancies:

The M&J Committee do have a number of Vacant Roles to fill. These include Secretary and Registration Secretary. These positions are being covered at present to ensure that the work is undertaken. We do need new volunteers to come forward to help ensure sustainability, and to provide an input of fresh workable ideas.

The roles are not too demanding in terms of time and or input and there are seasoned veterans available to help guide, assist and mentor you in the role.

Interested parties please contact Gary Phillips .

Big thanks for the Big Man.

Finally we want to say a massive thank you to our outgoing Chair: Paul Kinsey.

Paul has been in post for three years as Chair of the M&J’s and has been responsible for spearheading development and improvements across the section.

Words cannot describe the effort he has put in to the Club, the time he has spent on thankless tasks, and the massive difference he has made.

It is testament to the man that he did not want thanks from anyone at the Awards Day and instead insisted on thanking everyone else for all their effort, help and support.

We are all extremely pleased that he is taking on a new role as Club Liaison Officer, which will mean that he is never too far away to help out and assist.

Thank you Paul. You have made Llanishen M&J’s a great place to play rugby.
