Narrow defeat for 2s.

Original opponents Barry sadly couldn't raise a side so Llanishen 2s travelled to Caldicot for what is believed to be the first game between the sides. The opening period was very scrappy, both sides tried to play attractive rugby but poor handling and some fussy refereeing hampered their efforts. The visitors opened the scoring with a Nathen Llewellyn try converted by Lewis Marshall, but just before half time prop Paul Wallis was given a yellow card for a technical offence at a scrum, which left players and spectators from both sides baffled, when he was off the home side equalised with a converted try of their own and then took the lead early in the second half with a penalty. Soon after, and back to fifteen players, Llanishen regained the lead when Marshall kicked through for wing James Chapman to win the race to the ball to score, Marshall added the extras, and soon after Chapman crossed for his second. Thee home side then pressed strongly and with a couple of minutes left got another converted try to get within two points. They maintained the pressure and then Mike williams appeared to have won a turn over, the referee thought differently, awarded the home side a penalty and showed Williams a yellow card, then marched Llanishen back ten yards for (perceived) backchat, this brought the penalty to within kicking distance and it was converted to give the home side  a 20 - 19 victory.
